Red is a scene study of three separate moments from the stage play by John Logan, with Aiden Brady playing Mark Rothko and Daniel Higley his assistant Ken. This complex, though fictional, relationship focuses on a period in the artist’s life when, at the peak of his commercial success, he confronts a crisis of confidence and in doing so also propels the younger man to his purpose.
"Marek’s exquisite photography captures beautifully the dynamic between these two men who ostensibly find themselves in clearly defined roles, but whose own internal lives keep spilling over, across each other’s boundaries, within the confines of a studio that, although spacious, imposes itself with an oppressive claustrophobia of disillusionment and foiled ambitions."
"Working with Marek is an absolute, unqualified joy: his calm, assured authority and technical acuity come hand in hand with a friendly, open manner and a clear artistic vision that add immensely to the project. I very much look forward to any further opportunity for collaboration." : Sebastian Michael, Director
